The Forgotten Runiverse utilizes an “active” turn based combat system. An Active Time Bar (ATB) tracks each character’s turn to act (featured on the top of the screen in the image above). A character can only perform acts when their portrait has reached the active zone of the ATB (the dark blue zone on the right edge of the bar).
Before battle players can equip their items and up to 4 spells to use during combat. Players can synergize spells together with their party members and, through strategic timing with the ATB, combo their spells with one another to more easily take down powerful foes.
